So, the school year is heading to an end and the days are getting longer and hotter…this can only mean one thing- it’s prom, wedding, ball and racing season!
As well having to organise your dress, bag, shoes and jewellery, the last thing you want to be worrying about is how to wear your hair. Fear not- you shall go to the ball! To give you a helping hand, we’ve put together an all-you-need-to-know guide to Summer Party hair, featuring how to create everything from poufs to ponytails and buns to braids…read on to find out more…you can thank us later!
Glam clip in Ponytail
1.) A high ponytail with a slice of hair wrapped around at the band. A beautifully simple yet classic style- the high ponytail looks gorgeous teamed with a cute tiara or hair accessory and comes out winning every time. We’ve got a huge range of ponytails that are ready for you to clip in and go. Curly or straight- the choice is yours! Try Xpress, Lush, Classy or Flow for a straight style or a Chic, Glam, Gorgeous or Cutefor beautiful curls that require no styling whatsoever! Simply clip into your own ponytail, take a small section of hair from the bottom and wind all the way around the top to disguise the clip. Secure with a Kirby grip and finish with a spritz of spray. For a cute variation, try wrapping a braided headband at the top of the ponytail.
2.) The Half-up half-down style. Look drop-dead gorgeous with loosely-pinned, half-up half-down mermaid curls. To get this easy look, wash and blow-dry your hair and loosely tong to create soft waves or scrunch with a curl-defining mousse whilst your hair is still damp. Carefully pop in some Hairdo 23” Wavy extensions. Take a section from each side of the front of your hair, pull to the sides and pin back. Finish the look with a mist of hairspray.
Brigette 3/4 hairpiece
For a straight version of this look, we recommend the Brigitte- one of our most favourite and deluxe hairpieces! A half-head of hair with thick, tumbling layers for a voluminous look that’ll make fellow prom-belles green with envy!
Simply section your hair, ear to ear and tie the back part up whilst you pop the piece in. You should have a loose section of hair at the front. Taking this section, lightly mist with some hairspray and backcomb it. Now you’re ready to put the piece in! Brigitte comes attached with a tooth-comb for extra hold. Simply align the comb on the piece to the line you made when separating your hair ear-to-ear and place into the hair. Now, take the front part of your hair which you previously backcombed and arrange into a quiff, making sure to conceal the front part of the hairpiece. Pin the quiff with Kirby grips, spritz on some extra-hold hairspray and voila- the perfect prom-queen look!
3.) Pretty ponytail. For a pretty, minimal fuss style, try a low ponytail at the nape of the neck with lots of height at the crown for extra wow-factor. First, backcomb layers of hair at the crown of your head and finish by spraying with hairspray. Next, pop in some Hairdo extensions, in either 22” or 25”, depending on how long you want the look. Gather the hair, tie into a low ponytail and add a small flower or jewelled pin to add extra detail if you wish.
4.) Layered braids. For a gorgeous style that’s as simple to create as it is pretty, try layering our braided headbands and our chunky braided headbands. 5.) Last but by no means least is a hairstyle that is probably one of the most popular for occasions such as proms and balls- Yep, you’ve guessed it, it’s The Bun! A classic bun is one of the most beautiful ways to set off your features and your all-important dress and it’s super-easy to create if you follow our steps! There are two ways you can create a beautiful big bun and we’re going to explain how to do both.
The first is the ready-made Ken Paves braided chignon. Simply tie your hair into a ponytail or bun and clip it in- it’s as simple as that!
Or… You can use one of our fabulous ponytails and wrap it into a bun yourself.
Start by tying your hair into a high ponytail if you want a high bun or a low ponytail if you prefer your bun to be low. Put in one of our ponytail pieces, such as Classy, Flow or Lush. Separate the piece into two, take the slice of hair on the right and wrap it all the way round to the left. Do the same with the remaining slice of hair, but wrap in the opposite direction. You should now have a big statement chignon. Tuck the ends of the ponytail into the bottom of the style and secure with some Kirby grips. And there we have it…super slick chignon-chic!
